Sade: an introduction and new album
Sade, pronounced “shah-day,” formed in England in 1983. The band is named after the lead singer, Helen Folasade Adu, better known as Sade. The group released their first studio album in 1984 called “Diamond Life.” Between 1985 and 2000, Sade released another four albums.
On Feb. 8, 2010, Sade is scheduled to release their sixth studio album—and first album in 10 years— titled “Soldier of Love.” The title track was released in December and made it on the Urban Hot AC and Smooth Jazz Top 20 Countdown charts.
So far, there have not been any tour dates announced in support of the album, but that could be changing soon.
“I only make records when I feel I have something to say. I’m not interested in releasing music just for the sake of selling something. Sade is not a brand,” Sade said on their official Web site.
